Capture and Freeze Memories: The Importance of Recording Your Travels | Exploring Bhadrachalam Vlog

Date: 16th July 2023

Dear Friend,

How are you doing? I hope everything is okay with you and everything is going well, as usual. When I sat down to think about this week's topic, after talking about such a severe and deep topic the last time, I thought it would be great if we discussed something lighter and more fun. So, this week, let's talk about traveling. We all enjoy traveling, so in this letter, I'll explain why you should record your travels.

Around a year and a half ago, in February 2022, I went on a short weekend trip to Bhadrachalam, a small local sightseeing place within my state. It was just a 2-day visit, nothing fancy. I still have the video of the trip on my YouTube channel. My cousin and my father were with me during the trip. Those days I was toying with the idea of making vlogs. During the journey, I slowly pulled out my phone and started recording. Everything that mesmerised me or amused me, I captured.

The drive to Bhadrachalam from Hyderabad is so beautiful. The entire drive is filled with lush green farms, mostly paddy fields. You can hear the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves on both sides of the road. Coming from the city, it was a breath of fresh air.

Bhadrachalam also had a lot of beauty to witness. There is the beautiful temple of Lord Ram, the "Parnasala," which is believed to be the place where Lord Ram spent his time in exile, and the most beautiful river, the Godavari. The small 2-day visit was fun and beautiful. Later, when I returned to Hyderabad and started editing the footage for the video, I realised that recording trips is the wise thing to do.

Whether we post them on social media or not, we should always record our travels. One should even edit the footage and compile them into one video. Recording is one of the best ways to capture and freeze our memories. It is a kind of journal where moving images fill the pages instead of words.

How many times can we travel in our busy lives? With travel being time-consuming and getting more expensive daily, the frequency of our travels will also reduce. In my childhood, I used to go on a trip twice a year. Now, I can hardly travel once a year simply because of time. There is always something that comes up and demands my attention. I only see it getting more difficult in the future. I am sure that's the case for most of us. So, when travel could be so rare, isn't recording these precious moments the best thing to do?

Don't get me wrong. Please don't overdo it to the extent that you are only recording and not living in the present moment. Be present, be there. But when you think that's a beautiful moment or place, take your phone, hit record, shoot it, and then return to the present. We all have time machines with us. Photos and videos are time machines that take us back years in the comfort of our homes without moving from our chairs. That's all I have to say.

If you want to watch my Bhadrachalam vlog (Click Here), I'll write to you again next week. Until then, stay safe! Stay happy!

Yours lovingly,

D.S.S.R. Anirudh
